Tour Plan

Day 1. Tirana

Meet our guide at your hotel or Tirana International Airport and start with a city tour of vibrant Tirana, visiting key sights like Skanderbeg Square, Mother Theresa Square, and the National History Museum. Discover the city's diverse religious landmarks, including the Orthodox Cathedral, Catholic Cathedral, and Et'hem Bej Mosque, before heading to BunkArt 1, the largest underground bunker from the communist era. End the day with free time to explore the nightlife in the lively Blloku district.

Day 2. Tirane – Shengjin – Shkoder (130 km)

After exploring the coastal fortifications and learning about Shengjin's strategic communist history, we head to Shkoder for lunch. Visit the iconic Rozafa Castle, rich with Illyrian heritage and offering stunning views, before enjoying free time to mingle with locals on the vibrant city promenade.

Day 3. Shkoder - Cape of Rodon – Durres (130 km)

Continue exploring the natural beauty and bunkers of Kune Lagoon and the historic Cape of Rodon, enjoy a drink inside a bunker overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Next, we transfer to Durres, Albania’s second-largest city, where you will visit ancient sites such as the Roman amphitheater, Venetian Tower, Byzantine walls, and Roman baths.

Day 4. Durres - Kucove – Berat (100 km)

After a quick stop in the historic NATO airbase in Kucova, we head to the UNESCO-listed city of Berat, renowned for its 2,400-year-old castle and stunning Ottoman-era architecture. Explore the cobblestone streets of the Mangalem and Gorica quarters, divided by the Osumi River, and visit iconic sites like the King’s Mosque, Halveti Tekke, and Onufri Museum. The day offers a deep dive into Berat’s rich history, from ancient Illyrian times to the Ottoman period.

Day 5. Berat - Sazan Island – Vlore (150 km)

Today, we sail from Vlore to explore Sazan Island, a once-thriving military base during communism, where abandoned schools, hospitals, and homes still stand. Walking through the island feels like stepping back in time to its once-busy past. Afterward, we relax by the clear blue waters of the Karaburun peninsula for a peaceful beach break.

*Sazan Island is open to visitors only from April – October, if weather permits. Otherwise, you will visit Apollonia park, Narta lagoon, and Zvernec.

Day 6. Albanian Riviera (90 km)

This morning, wake up to the soothing sounds of the sea before embarking on a captivating journey along the Albanian Riviera. As we travel the scenic coastal road, we'll explore charming villages brimming with vacation vibes and rich history, stopping at Porto Palermo Bay, where a former communist submarine base lies nestled beside the stunning Ali Pasha Tepelena fortress. Enjoy the breathtaking views and hidden beaches before we continue our adventure to the vibrant city of Saranda.

Day 7. Sarande – Gjirokaster (90 km)

Today, immerse yourself in the rich history of southern Albania, starting with a visit to the archaeological park of Butrint, where ruins from the 8th century B.C. reveal the legacies of the Illyrians, Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines amidst stunning natural beauty. After exploring this ancient city with our knowledgeable guide, we’ll venture to the picturesque Ksamil Islands, famous for their pristine sandy beaches and breathtaking views of Corfu just a few kilometers away. Our journey continues to the UNESCO-listed town of Gjirokaster, known as the "Stone City," where you’ll visit the impressive Argjiro Castle and the birthplace of communist leader Enver Hoxha, all while admiring the unique local architecture that makes this town so special.

Day 8. Gjirokaster – Korce (200 km)

In the morning, we venture off the beaten path through the stunning southeastern countryside of Albania, where picturesque mountains and valleys meet friendly locals and delicious food, all while encountering remnants of the country’s bunker-filled past. Upon arriving in the charming city of Korçë, known as "The Little Paris," we’ll take a leisurely walking tour through the historic old bazaar and elegant boulevards, immersing ourselves in the city’s rich architecture and vibrant atmosphere.

Day 9. Korce – Tirane (165 km)

On the last day of this amazing journey, we will explore the surroundings of Lake Ohrid. The village of Tushemisht is remarkably known for its fish farms. Nearby is Drilon Park, which served as the summer residence of leader Enver Hoxha. West of Lake Ohrid, is located the village of Lin where are some bunkers with great views. In the afternoon arrive in Tirana and accommodate in your hotel.

  • Can I book the tour as a solo traveler? Is there a single room supplement?

Solo travelers are welcomed to join this tour. Solo travelers will be paired with a fellow guest of the same gender for accommodations, or they can opt to book a private room for added comfort and privacy.

  • Should I book pre/post tour accommodation?

Pre tour accommodation is not included in the price. You will need to book by yourself or arrange it with us. Last night accommodation in Tirana is included.

  • Is the tour departure guaranteed?

Our multi-day tours are guaranteed to depart with a minimum of two participants. A tour can be cancelled if the minimum number of participants is not reached up to 20 days before the start of the tour. We will contact you with alternative travel suggestions.   • What type of accommodation is provided?
