Itinerary
This day tour starts in Tirana or Durres. Meet with your local guide and continue driving to the lagoon of Karavasta. It is the largest lagoon in the country and is most notable for featuring 5% of the world population of the globally endangered and extremely rare Dalmatian pelican. The lagoon is separated from the Adriatic Sea by a large strip of sand, where we will take a boat tour to admire and watch a diversity of birds. Later, we take a walk along the Adriatic coast for birdwatching of occasional species that visit the national park.
The trip continues next to the famous Castle of Berat. While walking in the castle, you can enjoy the narrow streets and the traditional houses. From above you will be able to have an amazing view of the old town.
After a traditional local lunch in the castle, we will have some time to discover the Mangalem neighborhood, walk along the Osumi River, and take great photos of the Gorica Bridge. These authentic quarters have made it possible for the city of Berat to be listed under UNESCO World Heritage.
Enjoy some free time on your own, and in the afternoon we head back to your hotel.
