Itinerary
This guided daily tour starts from any hotel in Tirana and/or Durres*. Our professional tour
guide will meet at your hotel lobby and drive down south to the city of Gjirokaster, located at
Drinos valley and surrounded by the Wide mountain, and Zagoria national park.
On the arrival, we start the city tour by visiting inside the Argjiro fortress and the museum
which used to be a prison at communist times. Next, we visit the Ethnographic, a symbol of the
amazing local architecture and the birthplace of communist leader Enver Hoxha.
A walk through the old town includes a visit to Bazar Mosque, Gjirokaster Obelisk, and the
Bazar area. Local people of Gjirokaster have been recognized since medieval times as great
handcrafters of stones, wood carving, and handmade work carpets by women.
You will have free time to explore the city at your own pace and try some delicious local dishes
such as Qifqi (handmade rice balls), Ali pasha soup (cream soup with meatballs), Oshaf
(traditional dessert with dry figs).
In the afternoon we drive back to your hotel taking with us great memories, photos, and
souvenirs.
